Entrepreneurship is the new ‘in’ thing these days. Everyone, especially Millennials, want to build their own business and start something truly innovative. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, especially for a woman.
We are all essentially the same – having the same evolutionary background, equipped with the same body features, the same mind and living in the same world. Then how does one woman become an entrepreneur and the other isn’t able to?
This is because women entrepreneurs have special abilities. Now these abilities may not be inborn, they may have been carefully cultivated, through education, exploration and taking initiative to walk down the entrepreneurial path.
Here are a few distinct characteristics which makes a woman entrepreneur stand out:
Insightful
Women entrepreneurs are individuals who find worth in something others find worthless; they find possibility in something viewed as impossible by others. They have an eye for capturing opportunities in a burnt building, failed project and dumps. They know how to pump adrenaline in a slow moving train.
Now, though you may feel that this is something which comes naturally, you need to re-consider. The ability to find opportunities in unlikely places can be developed – through positive thinking. When you start searching for the silver lining, force yourself to gain a new perspective on things and leave behind negativity, you give your brain a chance to look at things in a new light, thus allowing you to find possibility in something previously labeled as impossible.
Control
Women are stereotyped to be overly emotional; as opposed to men, women are considered to let their emotions rule their mind. Women entrepreneurs know how to turn this stereotype to their advantage. When they wake up in the morning and see it’s raining, they don’t let the rain hamper their plans for the day or let it ruin their mood. Instead, they make a conscious effort towards feeling energetic and passionate about their day’s plan regardless of whether it is sunny out or raining. By taking charge of their emotions, women entrepreneurs rule their emotions and use them towards to grow and progress towards their goal. By being able to change mental state as per their will, they display professional behavior, even if they are not in the best of moods.
Authentic
You can pretend to be someone else for a while, but honestly, it doesn’t work out for the long haul. And if you live your life pretending to be someone else, the moment you slip, you are exposed as being a fraud. Women entrepreneurs understand their true passions and don’t pretend to be someone else. Instead, they succeed by honing their true, inner selves. This helps them in appearing to be authentic all the time and win customers’ trust. By being their true selves and winning trusts of their customers, business partners, suppliers, etc., women entrepreneurs make their way in the business world.
Courteous
Women entrepreneurs aren’t afraid of giving credit where it is due and so, they remember to say ‘thank you’, every time. This helps generate positive feelings and allows them to feel more fulfilled and focused.
Remember, all of these traits need not be inborn; if you too want to become a woman entrepreneur, practice and inculcate these characteristics within you and 2016 may be your year!
